Higginbotham Hardware operated a store at 3rd and Mary streets in downtown Waco. The building was heavily damaged in the Waco Tornado of May 11, 1953. The company elected to liquidate and close the store after the tornado, but the building was renovated.

The family connection to Higginbotham was made when E. R. Nash, Jr. married Louise Higginbotham in 1906. To our knowledge, E. R. Nash, Jr. did not work for Higginbotham but was an owner of the business founded by his father, E. R. Nash, Sr. and his father’s cousin, John Wesley Robinson. This business was called Nash-Robinson Hardware and was in operation in Waco and Marlin for about 100 years.
