The photos below are of the original Higginbotham house in Dublin, Texas. Rufus and Hattie lived there before they moved to the Swiss Avenue residence in Dallas.
Similar Dublin House: The house in the link below is NOT the Higginbotham house, but looks very similar to it and still survives. People in Dublin told us that the original Higginbotham house in the photos below has since been demolished, perhaps after a fire. They both looked similar because we understand that they might have been built from the same plans. There are some nice interior and exterior photos that show what the remaining house looks like.

Dublin, Texas: The Harris House

THE 1889 HARRIS HOUSE
John G. Harris along with his wife, Annie, built this gorgeous home in 1888-1889. Harris was the founder of the first bank in Dublin, the Dublin National Bank. He was also the bank’s second president.
Built for the grand total of $5,000, the home still stands in all of its majesty and is one of the most beautiful structures in the entire area.
Boasting of 6,000 square feet, sixteen rooms, and complete restoration, the home is today owned by Pat and Sarah Bays who reside in the old beauty.
